I created a custom painting for Courtney Klos for his new condo. I hope you guys like it!

Courtney and his brother Cameron wanted to decorate their huge wall space of the new condo with art featuring Minneapolis. They got an awesome new place right by the Guthrie Theater so they came to me to make some huge for them. On a canvas of 40 x 30 inches I was able to do complete that task. Done in acrylic paints, spray paint and decal space invaders. It took about 2 weeks from actual start to finish. it was fun to do and I hope I can do some more of these type of commissions in the future.

The picture is a bit loop sided in the photo. The painting is much straighter than photo.

If you didn’t play the Force Unleashed  about 2 years ago and don’t know who Starkiller (Galen Marek) is, go here to learn more or pay the game. It is awesome! I picked the simplest costume to do. Let me know what you think.

The whole group was based on females doing lead male roles in action videogames. That way we could make them our own but still represent a specific character. We have Wario, Mario, Link, Elika (not part of the main group but still awesome) Starkiller, Prince of Persia, Kratos and not pictured Altair. I love the picture of Kratos and I in line to kick some armored butt.

I was a good girl this year and spent way less at Comic Con than the previous two years. Of course there were still purchases that had to be made. Check out the goodies I got this year.

A Comic Con wouldn’t be complete without a comic figure, so I got Cole the retro/new Aquaman. He also got the newest Penny Arcade book but he has it in his truck at work so I couldn’t take a picture of it.

Next, Super7 probably had the most exclusives for the convention there. I ha my eyes on their little sweet face Fenton. So freaking adorable.

The newer Stitch vinyl figures were all the rage at last year’s comic con. Mindstyle had a whole custom showcase floor to show off what artists did to the vinyl stitch template. Now people can actually afford them in mini versions of their favorite designs. I nabbed the Angry Woebots exclusive rage colorway and had him sign it. My absolute favorite was the Camilla D’errico’s and she had them at her booth too. Hooray for signed figures that were only $30 each. both artists were a pleasure to be around.

And something that I had been eyeing up for a while was a new mp3 player since my ipod stopped working on me. RAGE!!! Anyways, The Mugo is a new designer flash drive/mp3 player. It is similar to an ipod shuffle in that  it has no screen to go through music but it is 2G so I figure I can go through about 400 songs and then when I am tired find the new 400 songs of the month. Plus the lady gave me $10 off so i had to get it. The Julie West one was the first to go. Glad I got it on the first day.

More items were obtained as swag or bought for other people’s list but I already sent those out so you can’t see them. But maybe I can get something for you next year.

Meagan VanBurkleo and I did a photo shoot for our upcoming videocast that will be featured at Fancy Pants Gangsters website. Hit the jump to read what our new show, Vinyl Monster is about and when the pilot should be done.

Vinyl Monster is a videocast dedicated to designer toys and geeky goodness. Based out of the Twin Cities, MN, the show will cover figures from KidRobot’s latest releases to custom-made figures as well as geek housewares and more. Our goal is to put out a professional yet awesome show that displays all the amazing things going on in the pop art, nerd and designer figure culture.

Vinyl Monster will be taped in a local studio in the Twin Cities. We plan to encompass Do-It-Yourself tips, product reviews and upcoming / new releases. Vinyl Monster will focus on small to large artists of all ages. The show will also encourage the fans to show off their collections and customs on the show to help promote the community of designer figures and art. Artist interviews will also be in the show’s mix. We plan to air the show twice a month with each show running 15-30 minutes long. The pilot will be released just before San Diego Comic Con (July 22nd).
